When did you know that you wanted to be a veterinarian?
I decided as a young child of about 5 years old. I loved animals and wanted to be able to help them. My first patient was my little, pink stuffed bunny.
How/When did you decide to transition into a more holistic approach to veterinary medicine?
As a vet student, I stumbled upon an introductory lecture in various holistic treatment options for dogs and cats. I was immediately intrigued! I began to study holistic options in my final year of veterinary school and have enjoyed every bit!
What brought you to Chicago?
I interviewed with practices all over the country as I neared completion of my veterinary studies. A great job opportunity brought me to Chicago in 1994.
Do you have any pets?
I have 3 cats, 1 dog, 1 guinea pig and a host of tropical fish
What are 2 pieces of advice that you would give to every pet owner?
A. Helping your pet maintain a proper body weight through safe and regular exercise as well as a species appropriate diet encourages long-term well-being.
B. There is no one-size-fits-all vaccine protocol for dogs and cats. Discuss what is best for your pet’s lifestyle with a veterinarian well-versed in holistic care.
