If you haven’t watched this short film yet please do so. It has won many international awards and it is a truly inspirational short film. One of the things I enjoy the most in canine rehab is the variety of patients I get to see on the same day, that can vary from geriatrics, post-op, arthritis, neuro, weight loss, and tripods/special needs all within the same day! It definitely helps keeping things fresh.
Tripods, and special needs in general, are probably my favorites to work with. Their resilience is amazing! It is like they don’t know any other way and are incredibly fast to adapt to their condition and happy to do so. I am planning on having specific posts in the future about tripods, carts/assistive devices for pets, etc… but in the meantime if you want to follow some great stories and maybe help some special needs pets I will shamelessly direct you to Bially’s Wellness Foundation, an organization founded by a good friend of mine that helps give financial and emotional support to pets with special needs and their families. They hold a special place in my heart since they helped save one my dogs, Lt Dan, from being euthanized when he was born with hind limb paresis and sponsored his veterinary care.
